LEADERSHIP NEWS

September 1, 2023:

Howard Hill, who stepped up to serve as TSSHOF’s State Director in 2011 and has served in that role for almost 13 years, has decided to step down.  Under Howard’s leadership, TSSHOF was “re-awakened” from three years of no activity or inductions and resumed statewide inductions of new members.  He also oversaw two important expansions of the organization’s scope: (1) from just the Southwest and Dallas areas to the entire state of Texas, with a dozen Area Committees now active, and (2) from only players being inducted to players, managers, umpires, sponsors, tournament directors, and “special achievement” individuals.

We all owe Howard our profound gratitude and thanks for his excellent efforts.  Effectively, he — along with initial founder Ridge Hooks — has been responsible for the continued existence and operation of the Texas Senior Softball Hall of Fame.

Going forward, the role of State Director will be filled by Tom Altman, who lives in Richmond and has spent his entire senior softball career with the Harris County Senior Softball League (HCSSL).

PREVIOUS INDUCTIONS

March 22, 2024:

Harris County Senior Softball League held its annual spring general membership meeting at the Bayou City Event Center and inducted Michael Beard, Woodrow “Woody” Benson, Ron Perkins, and Glenn “Butch” Scattergood into the TSSHOF.

March 24, 2023:

Harris County Senior Softball League held its annual spring general membership meeting at Bayland Park Community Center and inducted Bob Schulz, Al Steinberg, Carl Torregrossa, and Waltrip Funeral Directors into the TSSHOF.

March 7, 2023:

Bay Area Senior Softball Association (BASSA) inducted two players into the TSSHOF. James A. Hall was inducted as a manager on Friday, January 13th at the annual luncheon. Jim Pawlowski was presented his certificate at the opening game day on Tuesday, March 7th.

November 2021:

Austin Senior Softball League has inducted two players into the TSSHOF. They are Jack Crosley and Earl King. Congratulations to both.

 November 13th 2021:

Baytown Senior Softball League held their Annual Fall meeting at Baytown City Hall Banquet room. Baytown, Texas. After catered dinner, by Dickies Bar-B-Q and General meeting two players were inducted into The Texas Senior Softball Hall of Fame. Being inducted were Andy Crawford and Gil Spalbaum.  

                                                                                
October 29th, 2021:

Harris County Senior Softball League will hold their annual spring general membership Meeting at Bayland Park Community Center, located at 6400 Bissonett St., Houston, TX. There will be a Texas Senior Softball Hall Of Fame ceremony and General Meeting. The HOF committee composed of Tom Altman, Stan Bilski, Everett Sims, and Lenny Yaffie will induct Johnny Hughes into the TSSHOF.

                                                                                
January 11th, 2020:

San Antonio Senior Softball League held their annual awards Banquet. This event was held at Morgan’s Wonderland Event Center, 5223 David Edwards Dr., San Antonio, TX.. After a BBQ dinner, Master of Ceremony Bill Altman and HOF chairman Fred Gonzales inducted two individuals into the Texas Senior Softball Hall of Fame. Being inducted  into the TSSHOF were Bobby Saenz and Ron Henderson.
